Week 4 in fantasy football. The first NFL Bye Week.
It’s week 4 and injuries have taken their toll, rookies have stepped up and veterans have stepped down. But one key reason that this week is so important in fantasy football is that it is the first bye week. This is the week that those undefeated teams will be tested. You knew it was coming in the draft but did you plan for it?
If you didn’t I have some pickups and sit downs that may help you…
This week’s bye teams include the Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts, Detroit Lions, New York Giants, New England Patriots, and Seattle Seahawks. The Giants and Colts possibly have the most fantasy impact, but there are great players from each of these teams. Here is who you should pick up to sub the following stars.
New York Giants Defense - pick up San Fransisco 49ers Defense or the Denver Broncos. The 49ers are showing unpredicted numbers and the Broncos showed life last week and play the Chiefs this week.
Eli Manning - pick up J.T. O’sullivan. This is no Steve Young or Joe Montana, but he is the QB for the 49ers right now. He has proven fantasy value in week 2 and 3 and should play great against the Saints.
WR on bye - This position probably has the least depth on bye this week. With those great Giants and Colts WR and Calvin Johnson on bye, you could try to pick up one of the following. Chansi Stuckey, Hank Basket, Eddie Royal, Robert Meachem, Devry Henderson. Each of these guys have either caught great passes or will this week. The Saints have great depth in this position and with Marques Colston and David Patten out Robert Meachem and Devry Henderson could have a great week.
RB - If your looking for this position you may be in luck. This year the Running Back position has depth. Here are a list of players to look for on the waiver wire to replace your bye week running back. Tim Hightower - Arizona Cardinals, Jurious Norwood - Atlanta Falcons, Darren Sproles - San Diego Chargers, Chris Johnson - Tennessee Titans, Brandon Jackson - Green Bay, Steve Slaton - Houston Texans. True, all of these guys are backups, but they are still putting up great numbers whether be it because their respected starter is out or their just getting to split carries and are showing production.
As always in bye week situations, never drop a star player at the last minute only expecting nobody will pick them up on their bye week and you will be able to get them back. This always results in disappointment.

Slaton will be big now that he’s been named the starter.
I will add your blog to my list of links on my front page. Please do the same for me.
